The Sandy Catalano Open
Lane Pattern
East Islip Lanes has agreed to slightly modify their house shot for the Sandy Catalano Open. Our goal is to put down a pattern that has decent scoring but is not as easy as the regular house shot.
The goal with announcing the pattern is to give bowlers as much information as possible to minimize the number of balls they have to bring and to get an idea of what to expect. As most bowlers know there are many factors that determine the scoring environment at a bowling tournament. Many of these factors (lane surface, temperature and humidity) plus human contact cannot be controlled. This is why we caution everyone the lane pattern posted should be used as a guideline and may play very differently than was expected.
We hope to put down a shot where multiple angles will play while keeping the scoring at a reasonable level. Obviously, we don't want to make the shot too difficult since it will not make for an enjoyable experience or encourage people to re-enter.
PLEASE NOTE: Lanes will be stripped and oiled before the first squad each day and stripped and re-oiled prior to the finals.
THE LANE PATTERN FOR THE TOURNAMENT
| The lane pattern used at East Islip Lanes will have 42 feet of oil with a slight crown (more oil towards the middle of the lane.) When using this pattern for other tournaments at East Islip the scoring was good without being too high. |
